The Rock Island City Council met in special session at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2003, at the Quad City Botanical Center.  The purpose of the session was to informally meet with the two finalists for the position of Fire Chief – Jerry Shirk of Rock Island and Kenneth Herout of Lisle, Illinois.

 

            Present through the evening were Mayor Mark W. Schwiebert, and Aldermen Terry M. A. Brooks I, David R. Conroy, Vern L. Winter and Evelyn “Evie” R. White.  Council members not in attendance were Aldermen John E. Bauersfeld, Jr., Beth Y. Mahlo and Frank J. Forlini, Jr.   Staff present included City Manager John C. Phillips, Personnel Director/Assistant to the City Manager John Thorson, Community and Economic Development Director Greg Champagne, Chief of Police Terry Dove, Fire Chief Al Sinksen, and Personnel Secretary Jackie Carey.

 

            The session consisted of informal conversation with the two candidates, and ended at 6:30 p.m. 

 

            A motion made by Alderman Conroy and seconded by Alderman Brooks to recess to Monday, April 7 at 5:00 p.m. CARRIED on a Roll Call vote.  AYES: Aldermen Brooks, Conroy, Winter and White.  NAYS: None.
