SUBJECT: Funding Request – Grand Excursion
2004 DATE: 10/9/02
At the October 7 Council study session, representatives of the Grand Excursion 2004 presented information about the activity. Although the event is approximately two years away, the organization is requesting a commitment of funding support at this time in the amount of $29,400.
The request is based on population with the funds being used to support a variety of activities outlined in the plan presented to Council last Monday. The Grand Excursion 2004 organization anticipates raising some $1.5 million in support from Quad City area public and private sources and $16 million in total funding.
Support from the city would be gaming funds carried in the Contributions account of the 207 Community and Economic Development Fund. If Council concurs in supporting this organization, staff will include an allocation of $29,400 in the proposed FY03/04 budget.
Council approve an allocation of $29,400 in the FY03/04 budget to support the Grand Excursion 2004.
