AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE I OF CHAPTER 9

OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE

CITY OF ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS:

Section One. Article I of Chapter 9 of the Rock Island Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by deleting Sec. 9-16 in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following language:

“Sec. 9-16. Bonding Procedures:

(a) Whenever the owner of a vehicle seized pursuant to this article wishes to retrieve their vehicle prior to the evidentiary hearing they may do so by posting a cash bond at police headquarters in the amount indicated herein. Once the bond has been posted, the vehicle shall be released without charge until an evidentiary hearing is held by the city code hearing officer.

(1) Violations of subsection 9-12(a)(1) or (a)(2) of this article, bond of two hundred fourteen dollars ($214.00).

(2) Violation of subsection 9-12(a)(3) or (a)(4) of this article bond of two hundred ninety six dollars ($296.00).

(3) Violation of subsection 9-12(a)(5) of this article, bond of seven hundred thirty two dollars ($732.00).

(4) Violation of subsection 9-12(a)(6) of this article, bond of seven hundred eighty dollars ($780.00).

(5) Violation of subsection 9-12(a)(7) or (a)(8) of this article, bond of eight hundred sixty dollars ($860.00).

(6) Violation of subsection 9-12(a)(9) of this article, bond of eight hundred sixty dollars ($860.00).

Section Two. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed as they do so conflict.

Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval, as required by law.
